When fear comes..

And it will!! Then what? I love the acronyms I have heard about fear. One is “False Evidence Appearing Real”. The other one I think I heard from a talk Neale Donald Walsh gave that just makes me laugh. ” F..K everything and run”! The second one is truly about being in a stress response of run!! The first one allows me, if I am willing to truly look and my own thoughts and emotions personally and collectively.

I personally don’t watch much TV anymore. I do notice more ease and peace arising in me. The other day I did turn it on. Every news story was inviting me to be fearful of covid, aging, not looking trendy, only belonging if I did XYZ, if I did’t act now I would lose out, if I didn’t do something they were promoting I did not love myself or others. I liked the one about what to wear if you want to be “in”. Do you see the fear? It is everywhere.

What I have learned to do, is to ask the question as I am watching whatever is ” what is they want me to believe”? I have found that this question truly puts some distance between me and what I am watching. Try it. I had to remember that everything I hear and see is programming my mind. I get to choose what I want to believe this is called sovereignty.

So fear to me is a huge umbrella of emotions. This umbrella holds worry, frustration, anger, resentment, anxiety, hopelessness, etc. Love on the other hand is another huge umbrella. Under this umbrella is care, kindness, compassion, peace, joy, etc. What I have learned is I can choose what I want to feel in each moment. If I am in one of the shades of fear, I can notice that and shift. We are the only species on the planet that can shift our biology and physiology. Isn’t that amazing!!! Think of how very powerful we really are.!!!

I had a client the other day who had a case of Covid. She shared with me her process and her gratitude. As she got sicker the fear came full on. Her husband also had Covid. She was torn taking care of him and herself. She realized the only one she could truly do was herself. She told me as she laid in bed and the pain in every muscle, joint, limb was freaking her out. She started noticing she was having difficulty breathing. More fear, fear upon fear.

This fear was having an impact on her. The research has shown that 5 minutes of anger(fear) lowers the immune systems effectiveness for up to 6 hours! With each moment she stayed in that state it was actually lowering her immune system. She had these thoughts she said. She chose to practice what she learned in our sessions. She told me she went into her heart, slowing her breath, deeper, slower. She was committed to being neutral, not letting the fear take over. She then activated the “feeling” of ease and compassion. She could feel her body begin to relax. As she experienced this, trust in her Self was growing. Another wave of fear would come, once again she went to her heart and repeated the process. It took much effort on her part, the payoff was she fell asleep in a state of peace.

It was her willingness to handle the emotions in a different way. It was not easy, yet her commitment to loving herself and having compassion for herself that got her through it. I was so inspired by her story I wanted to share it with you to show you what is possible when we shift to the power of the heart and listen to what it is telling you.
