A time to be Thankful!

As we approach this holiday season, we are invited to be more thankful. Since so many others are also activating this within themselves, it maybe easier to do this at this time of year.

I would like to invite you during this holiday season to sit daily, quietly, alone in a safe place. Begin to breathe in and out of your heart. A little deeper than normal, a little slower than normal. If it is useful, count to 5 when you inhale, 5 as you exhale. Do this for a few minutes.

What do you begin to notice? Mentally, physically and emotionally? People notice different things, there is no right/wrong here.

Now take a piece of paper out. Begin writing what you are grateful for. Write 5-9 things down, feel the gratitude as you write these down. Place them in a jar, book, whatever. Please do this everyday for this holiday season. Each day you must find a different 5-9 things to be grateful for.

Perhaps as you think of all of those holiday parties, you can imagine each person there. Imagine telling them what you appreciate about them. Holding them in the heart of gratitude.

Remember to not just make this a head thing, include your heart, your “feelings” as you do this.

I can imagine by the time we all get to Christmas, Kwanza, Hanukah, Solstice or whatever your spiritual tradition is at this time of year it will be filled with love, peace and goodwill towards each other for sure!

Play with this and let me know what you found out.
