Masking or not masking?

From NY Times

There is already so much written about the pro’s and con’s of wearing a mask. Whether they really matter, do they really keep out the particles, its a political move, getting headaches from the CO2 build up from your own breath. I think I have read most of it. Even a minister spoke of this. I rather liked what he said, as it came from a place of kindness rather than right or wrong.

Welcome to planet earth!!! It is filled with dualities, polarities and contrasts. This is how we learn. There is a power within you that will help you make the loving choice for yourself. We all have this power, we just have forgotten how to access it.

What is so funny these days, at least to me, is that I can walk into a bank, with sunglasses on, baseball cap and a mask and get treated royally!! Before Covid-19, I was asked to remove all those accessories;-)

I went to get a cup of coffee at my local coffee house the other day. As I walked out I saw a man sitting outside with his mask on the table. I noticed there was writing on it. I asked if it would be okay if I came closer to read it. He agreed. What he had on it has made me contemplate deeply on the mask thing.

It said “some masks we can visibly see, like this one, and many are invisible to the eyes. I truly have been contemplating this one.

Think about the masks you wear that are invisible to the eyes. I personally have worn the masks of “better than” or “brave” or “having it all together”. I have put on the mask of “everything is just fine”, when in fact it was not. Have you ever worn that happy face one, when in fact on the inside you were so sad or depressed?

Consider the masks you put on for your team members. I am so competent I know what is happening, I will take charge, when in fact you really don’t know and you are nervous. The ones you may have put on for your kids during Covid? Where you appeared that you were just loving the time with all of them, when inside you just wanted to run and hide from the family.

We all wear masks, don’t you? I know this maybe hard to look at and yet to heal ourselves, families and the world we need to take them off. Let people really see us. This is hard work since our ego vanities are at stake, or at least we think they are. Being vulnerable can be scary, especially if we have never done that.

What I have found in my own life, is the more I can be aware of my own inner states, the more power I have in the world. It comes from a deep inner knowing. This is what the heart can give you.
