Human Longevity Project…part 3

This series was excellent!  The researchers, functional medicine doctors, nutritionist and more shared what we now know about what it takes to live a quality life.  For me personally, length does not matter, quality does.

This session was about raising healthy children. Raising healthy kids does begin in utero!  What is going on in Mom at the time or pregnancy does matter.  Many children are suffering with allergies,  food sensitives, ADHD,  “soft” chronic illnesses abound in the industrialized world filled with artificial environments was the main theme.

Children doing hours of homework, watching videos all in artifical lights, using hand sanitizers that are killing microbiomes we need for our health.

Andrea Nakayama spoke about gut issues at a young age causing teens depression.  2nd and 3rd generations are being impacted by our over scheduling our kids.

Dr. Maya  Treat-Klein spoke of how far away kids are from eating natural foods, engaging in the natural world or even interacting with nature.  She believes cutting structured activity and playing in unstructured way, which builds the immune system. A term called “earthing”.

We tend to give medication to lower fevers, and yet it is the fever that can kill pathogens. We tend not to trust that the body can heal itself when we get the correct balance needed.

Dr. Jolene Brighten spoke of issues with absorption of nutrients and “birth control” is a way that causes nutrient depletion.

She also spoke of our society and all human society need to truly care for women!  The eggs of our children are carried generations back, what was done to them is influencing our kids now.  I studied pre and peri-natal birth psychology, finding out the importance of this fact.

Mom’s being stressed when pregnant influences the baby!  Babies born in this situation have shorter telemeres.  Society is placing stress on women to do do do and go go go.  Stress is one of the most harmful things for both baby and mother.

They spoke of the need for vaginal birth how it exposes the baby to microbiomes which are needed to help that baby!  Some C-section babies are now being swiped with the secretions of mom’s vagina, which is a wonderful practice.

They spoke of factory births, how to get them in and out.  One OBGYN nurse spoke of how she could not treat women that way any more.  She watched the harm it had on both mom and baby. I know when my daughter gave birth, the nurses picked straws to help her deliver naturally!  They told me that this not the normal practice in the hospital!!!

Not to cut the umbilical cord so soon, as it helps the baby transition to the outer world with more ease and connection.

World Heath Organization actually recommends breast feeding until the age of 2.  Deepening this connection truly helps kids at older ages feel loved and safe in the world.

I am sorry that the link to the human longevity project is no longer available;-).  I hope even this little bit of information will inspire you to investigate more.
