Longevity Project..cliff notes part 2

My passion in sharing this is my own interest in what it takes to live a long healthy, happy life.  There are so many components to being a healthy human being.   Many of these ideas are not taught in schools, to our children, the parents, etc.

I hope you enjoy these cliff notes!  One of the first things I studied was nutrition since I knew God gave me this body, my job was to care for it.;-)

This segment of the Longevity Project was on sleep, light and nutrition.   You can look up Longevity Project to find out more.

We have a collective power to make more mindful purchases and choices thought out the day.  Becoming more aware of the natural cycles that have driven us forever.  Some patterns that in the western world we ignore is the sleep/wake cycle.

Each person interviewed spoke of getting up early, going to bed when dark. They gave the example of camping, in the day you are out in the sun, walking, playing, etc.  Night falls and you go to bed vs in the western world, we turn on technology, lights, etc to extend the day and our rhythms become disturbed.

Sleep is what helps the body de-frag like a computer.  Lack of sleep can create burnout and overload of stress hormones.  Getting enough sleep 8-9 hours a night actually helps the cerebral spinal fluid to wash the brain and reset it.  This costs nothing;-)

The researchers then spoke of Light.  We need natural light.  We get exposed to so much un-natural light daily, computers, light bulbs that have taken out infra-red.  Humans have been regulated by the sun forever, we have forgotten this

We have been taught the sun was bad now.    They spoke of getting 20 minutes of sun in evening and morning since each provided a different bandwidth..blue light in morning, red light at sunset. We can’t demonize the sun. Civilizations before us have worshipped the sun!

Minimize sunscreen as many are toxic!  Being in the sun for our appropriate time exposure, then cover up.  I laughed when they said get as naked as you can in the sun, not bothering your neighbors;-).   Personally I think it has become harmful due to the how the rays become distorted due to pollution.

Night shift workers when researched as Dan Pardi (neuroscientist) said have highest cognitive decline, memory decline, higher cancer rates and cardiovascular issues, since their circadian rhythm is out of sync.

The researchers then spoke of radiation exposure, truly a problem in our society.  The human body was not meant to be exposed to this quantity.  When using technology the research is based on 2G, now we are 5G so scientist are saying “use the precautionary principle”.  Put distance between you and your phone, use a bluetooth (take it off when not using) put your phone away from you during the day, not wearing it.  Limit your exposure.

Hope you can tune in to the next segment!
