Stressed out? Overwhelmed? Can I stop the insanity?

How many of us hear people talking about being stressed out, overwhelmed, distracted, or in some dis-ease process?

The other day, three men spoke of this.  One saying he was so stressed out and knew that his psoriasis was worse because of this.

The other man said if my organization does not hire you to do that work, I need to hire you to help me.  He vulnerably shared he thought he was not handling the stress at work or home very well.

Another person, in the grip of a dis-ease process in his body, was in a shut down phase.  He is unable to decide what is highest and best for him.

This is what the stress response does in our bodies and minds.  It either super activates our nervous systems (sympathetic branch) or it slows us down (parasympathetic branch) However, in response to trauma, it can freeze us, like my friend mentioned above.

I never learned how to shut it off, so it has accumulated in my system for years.  I wonder at times why the dis-ease process hits most of us over the age of 50?  Do you?  Perhaps it is years of this “stress” accumulating in us?

Here are a few tips that I use:  1) heart focused breathing 2) shift to feeling a regenerative feeling such as appreciation, gratitude, compassion, love 3) stay in this frequency for 3 minutes.  This balances the nervous system.

Take time throughout the day when you notice something that delights, amazes, or opens you up, stay there and take it in. (Rick Hansen speaks often of this)  Take in the good!!!  This helps us to make these daily shifts so we don’t accumulate the negative.

The more we do this in these turbulent times, the easier it is to adjust to the changes that are happening.  It truly is all good!
